The terminal renovation & expansion project will include an 86,000 sq. ft. addition to the current facility at the Melbourne Orlando International Airport and also renovations of existing areas. A new security checkpoint and departure hold room is included in the project.

Community leaders, airport officials, media outlets and construction crews attended the topping out and beam signing ceremony.

Greg Donovan, the executive director of MLB said "we will have one of the most technologically advanced airport screenings for passengers."

MLB honored the construction crews working on the project during the event and invited them to sign the beam that was lifted in front of the crowd. The celebration included a barbecue lunch for more than 100 site construction workers.

"There is nothing more sustainable than hard work, I'm very proud of all of you," said Donavan.
